INTERNATIONAL STUDY PROGRAMME (ISP)
Live and learn in a traditional Austrian boarding school
The Theresian Academy offers an opportunity to students from partner schools of the Theresianum as well as from other schools with a high standard of education, to deepen their existing knowledge of German as part of the International Study Programme (ISP) and to study and live at our school for either 5 or 10 months, starting in September (at the beginning of the school year).
The ISP enables non-native German speaking students aged 15 to 17 to improve their existing German skills, experience learning in the Austrian school system as well as life at the Theresian boarding school and gain a deeper insight into Austrian and European culture and history.
Prerequisites for admission

good German language skills
-
good academic performance and
-
the necessary maturity and social skills to fit into the boarding school community.
Admission will only be granted if all the necessary documents are available and after a successful admission interview with the head of boarding.
Our ISP students can look forward to
-
living in the boarding school of Theresianum and be accommodated in twin rooms.

attending classes in all subjects in a school class with Austrian students their age. Willingness to actively participate in class is a prerequisite for participation in the ISP.

attending additional small group lessons for “German as a foreign language” as well as a weekly conversation and support lesson with their personal tutor, and take an official Austrian Language Diploma (ÖSD) exam at the end of the semester.

taking part in an extensive cultural program consisting of several trips to Austrian and European cities per semester, as well as visits to various cultural events in Vienna.

having the possibility to attend a dancing course at a very well-known and traditional Viennese dancing school, as well as in instrumental lessons.
Admission and costs

The registration fee for the International Study Programme is € 180,-.

The tuition fees per semester (September to January/February to June) are € 10.880,-- (valid from 09/2026, subject to change) and include accommodation, full board and tution. Learning materials, dance classes, any instrumental lessons, the fee for the ÖSD language exam and potential additional costs for activities in the cultural programme are not included.

Registrations for the coming school year are possible until 31 March 2026 at the latest. The number of slots in the programme is limited.
