Third Transnational Project Meeting Lisbon October 2018

Third Transnational Project Meeting Lisbon October 2018

The third transnational project meeting in October 2018 brought representatives from all partner schools to Lisbon, to get to know our partner school Campo de Flores
„Colégio Campo de Flores“ is a private school that has been in possession of and directed by the Alemida family for 51 years. It is located on the Estrada Nacional, in the district of Lazarim in Caparica, a suburb of larger Lisbon, on the southern shore of the Tejo river. Reachability of the school by public ttransport is exclusively targeted at its student population. Participants in the project were recommended to stay at a hotel in Caparica from where we were picked up and brought back to by school bus every day, perfectly in sync with our work programme.

Our visit at the school started with an extended tour of the campus during which the director demonstrated the special quality of the school and its goal „Education for the Globalized World“. After the tour we sat together in the project group, exchanging our experiences.
Little school time had passed since our last transnational project meeting in Mantova in May 2018. This is why the presentations of partner schools were limited to the projects in the field of „Peer Education“ that had been undertaken so far. These were shown and discussed in great detail.
On the following days the Portuguese teachers presented two new teaching concepts from the Colégio Campo de Flores: the „I-Programme“ (in which students and teachers are equipped with Apple I-Pads, partly financed by the school) and „Groups +“ (currently 12 – 16 year old students are taught in groups according to achievement in Mathematics and English – so-called „groups +“, called structuring / intermediate / advanced group. Every two classes form three groups). Classroom visits in small groups and opinion exchanges about these observations led to intense discussions between teachers from different countries about the use of digital media and about the advantages and disadvantages of teaching in achievement groups.

The end of the project meeting was dedicated to organizational details. (summary of results, evaluation, distribution of tasks for the next meeting in Stockholm, ensuring ongoing communication and the exchange of good practice examples from partner schools during the tryout phases in the individual countries.)
